Reflection: The First Year of Joint Management
One year ago, our long-term CEO Michael Kuttig was joined by his daughter Carolina Kuttig in leading the business. This marked the transition of the family-owned company Kuttig Electronic to the next generation.
Now, we want to know: "How was the first year of joint management? What went well, what has changed, and where do the challenges lie?"
Michael: In principle, I can say that the decision to invite my daughter to join the management team was absolutely the right one. For me, it’s a new experience to be able to exchange ideas on all matters concerning the company and receive constructive feedback. I am also pleased that everything we have created and built, and into which we are now investing, has a future within the family.
Carolina: I am positively surprised by how well the collaboration with the team, and especially with my father, is working. Of course, such a transition always brings new challenges. My father founded the company nearly 30 years ago and built it up with great passion. I think it’s wonderful that he is now open to change and a fresh perspective. I try to learn from his experience while introducing new ideas and approaches, which has been working well for us so far.
Michael: An important aspect, particularly for our employees and customers, was to create a secure perspective for the future. The moment Carolina agreed to co-manage the company with me, it was clear that the business would continue. Our team and business partners can count on Kuttig Electronic in the years to come. The next step will even be the expansion of our company with the addition of a second building, which will more than double our operational space.
Carolina: We are in full agreement on this upcoming point, and it is something I will consistently uphold: running the business based on the values that define our family-owned company. Internally, we maintain a familial atmosphere with flat hierarchies and an open ear for any concerns. Externally, we foster an uncomplicated and direct relationship with our customers, with the commitment to always deliver the highest quality.
Michael: I’m glad to hear that, and I can only agree. Another sign that we’ve become well-coordinated is that I’ve started reducing my working hours and stepping back from certain matters, delegating responsibility. It’s an unusual, but positive feeling.
Carolina: I am grateful for the opportunity here and gladly take on the responsibility entrusted to me. However, it is also reassuring for me to know that I will continue to have my father, with his vast expertise, as a close confidant and advisor by my side. Together, we will carry Kuttig Electronic into its fourth decade.
