Extended Obsolescence Management at Kuttig Electronic
Since the beginning of this year, we have been able to monitor individual articles and entire bills of materials for changes in the manufacturing process as well as the discontinuation of components.
This is based on your bill of material (customer bill of material). For this purpose, the manufacturer and the manufacturer’s article number are required in this list.
The obsolescence management takes care that components which will no longer be produced in future and which are built into products can be replaced by other comparable components or intentionally stockpiled for repairs. This management process strives for the aim that the life cycle (production and repair) of your product is not adversely affected by the availability or failure of required components.
Furthermore, we can
- make statements about the probable “lifetime” of individual components,
- set up permanent monitoring of entire bills of materials and
- identify impending discontinuations early.
