Extension of an SMT Line With the Stencil Printer ASM E by DEK
By increasing the production capacity in the last year and increasing batch sizes, Kuttig Electronic GmbH has expanded its most modern SMT assembly line with a high-performance stencil printer from ASM.

CERN CMS Gold Industry Award 2018
Kuttig Electronic was exceptionally rewarded with the CMS Gold Industry Award for the successful new production of 1200 DC-DC converters for the pixel detector during the technical stop at the turn of the year 2017/18.
2017
Extension of an SMD line with the MY200DX-14 placement machine
Kuttig Electronic is expanding its most modern SMT placement line with another assembly machine from Mycronic. The assembly rate per hour has been increased by approx. 40,000 components to a total of up to 110,000 components.
Renewal audit ISO 9001 and conversion to ISO 9001: 2015 passed
As part of the renewal audit by the TÜV Rheinland, the changeover to the new ISO 9001:2015 guideline will take place. Kuttig Electronic passes the audit without deviation.
2016
Investment in 3D AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
In order to further increase the test coverage, Kuttig Electronic invested in the first real 3D measurement system for components and solder joints, Koh Young Zenith, according to IPC-A-610 standard.

Best-EMS 2013
In the election to BestEMS 2013, we achieved the 1st Place in the category "Repair Service" with a score of 1.11.
New X-ray inspection system
Kuttig Electronic expanded its test facility by a high-resolution microfocus X-ray inspection system with real-time inspection of solder joints and electronic components as well as automatic testing.

In the election to BestEMS 2012, we achieved the 2nd place in the category "Repair Service" with a score of 1.37 and the 3rd place in the category "Flexibility" with a score of 1.23.
Purchase of a new SMD assembly line
In order to meet the steady growth, Kuttig Electronic invested in a completely new SMT assembly line of the latest generation. This simultaneously meets the demand for the latest assembly technology.

Flying Probe Tester
By investing in the Flying Probe Tester 4060 of SPEA® we reached another milestone in quality assurance. An electrical test of the modules can now already be carried out during production.

In the reader's vote of BestEMS 2010, we achieved the 1st place with a score of 1,18 in the category "Repair Service" and the 3rd place with a score of 1,41 in the category "Punctuality of Delivery"
2009
Conversion of the nitrogen supply to liquid gas.
To increase the quality of gas, especially for selective soldering, a nitrogen-LPG system was installed. The purity is 5.0 (99.999%).
PCB cleaning facility - not clean, but pure
Under this motto the PCB cleaning facility COMPACLEAN S2-R of the company pbt was purchased. The system is equipped with an eco-friendly washing circulation system and has a good efficiency. E²MS-Award 2009
Every second year the E²MS Award is bestowed by the magazine Elektronik Praxis, the FED and ZVEI. In 2009, Kuttig Electronic applied for the first time and was nominated under the Top 10. Please visit www.e2ms-award.de for further information.
2008
Extension of the repair options by Martin Expert 09.6
In order to be able to protocol repairs on circuit boards, the new reflow repair station Expert-09.6 was purchased. Of course, desoldering and soldering work are performed under a nitrogen atmosphere.
Installation of the new lead-free wave soldering machine Delta 3
With the new wave soldering machine Delta 3 of Soltec Vitronics not only the soldering quality for lead-free wave soldering was enhanced, but also efficiency was increased.
FPGA designs with Altera Quartus II
The capacity of modern FPGAs is convincing. With the products of Altera, Kuttig relies on a doyen among the FPGA manufacturers. The fast Cyclon III chip was used at Kuttig Electronic, in order to protect the hardware of high frequency generators.
2007
Investition in die 3. SMD-Linie
With the acquisition of the 3rd SMD assembly line, we were able to increase the SMD capacity to a total of 50,000 components per hour. With the placement machine My15E of MyData and the inline vapor phase soldering system VP3000 of ASSCON the latest technology is at our disposal and the versatility continues to grow.
New inline selective soldering machine in lead-free
Midyear, the new selective soldering mySelective 6745 by Soltec-Vitronics is put into operation and allows to open the process window in the lead-free soldering a little further.
Software development becomes an integral part of our work
The area of software development has been extended by further employees. By using current development tools and the development of functional libraries, processes are now more effective.

The Excellence Award 2007 was given to Kuttig Electronic by the company Cognex (USA) due to particular quality and flexibility.
2006
Relocation to the new company building
In February the time had come: Moving the entire company to the new address "Am Vennstein 6" into new premises with a production surface of 1,600 m². After only two working days without production, manufacturing could start again.
Official inauguration of the company building and Open Day
On May 19, the new company building was inaugurated in a ceremonial act with more than 250 guests from business, politics and press. On the next day, the company building was visited by families and friends as part of an open day.
2005
Start of construction and topping out ceremony of the new company building.
After a planning phase of 15 months, the first sod was turned in March. On August 29, the topping out ceremony was celebrated.
New wave soldering system ATMOSFERICA W400 with nitrogen fumigation
Improving the quality of lead-free assemblies was only possible through a nitrogen fumigated wave soldering system. The nitrogen supply was now carried out through a generation plant according to the PSA principle.
2004
Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI)
The aim of this investment was an increase of the delivery quality. After extensive test installations and test series with various manufacturers Kuttig Electronic opted for LaserVision LV4 of Schneider and Koch.
2003
Qualification of lead-free soldering processes
Due to the RoHS Directive, which was stipulated by the European Union, lead-free soldering processes were tested and qualified at an early stage.
2002
Automatic THT assembly
Due to the introduction of a truck toll, a placement system for the automatic assembly of 5mm THT LEDs was purchased. With this system it is possible to equip 5mm LEDs with high speed and precision.
Conversion to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000
In the course of the renewal audit by TÜV-CERT, the changeover to the new directive 9001:2000 took place. Kuttig Electronic passed the renewal audit without deviation.
2001
Qualification of the BGA process
The qualification of the BGA assembly process enabled the manufacturing of highly complex PCBs. Simultaneously, the process for µBGA and CSP (Chip Scaled Packaging) was qualified.
2000
Extension of the SMD-capacity
By investing in an SMD line with a placement capacity of 21,000 components per hour the production capacity was significantly increased. Centerpiece was the automatic placement machine MY12 of MyData in conjunction with the stencil printer of E5 EKRA.
Intensifying development activities
Tom Fiedler took over the development department. Initially, he focused on layout services and on building up a certified component library on ProTel 99 in synergy with the production.
1999
Initial certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001
The company processes with process descriptions and work instructions were summarized in the QM manual, which was certified by TÜV CERT Rheinland according to DIN EN ISO 1994:9001 in January 1999.
1998
Move
to the industrial area Roetgen, Am Münsterwald 9. With a production area of 615 m², this was a great leap forward, which was celebrated with an inauguration ceremony.
1996
Company Foundation
After 10 years of professional experience Michael Kuttig founded Kuttig Electronic GmbH in the basement of his home in Roetgen-Rott near Aachen. In February, he started manufacturing THT PCBs.
Start of SMD production
SMD production started just one month after the foundation of the company. The first placement machine TP9U of MyData had a loading capacity of 3,600 components per hour.
